Amazon Reload eliminates the giftcard complication if (a) loyalty points are the objective and (b) you have some cash on hand. You can generate at least 6k loyalty points per month as long as at some point in the future you'll spend $2k at Amazon or have an Android phone for buying stuff at brick and mortars with tap to pay. Full walkthrough of the procedure. Takes about 5 minutes for each 750 LP buy.

iPhone users should buy a Samsung Galaxy for 2100 LP on the portal so they can spend giftcards with NFC (joke).
