^^^ And to answer the directly above the reason I would want this credited to Delta is for a few reasons. First, I am based in SLC so the vast majority of times I would fly would be with Delta so I would like status with them. Two, I have an American Express Platinum which gives me a $200 incidental credit with Delta. And three, I was in my Delta account and booked it in my Delta account. That seems the proper place to book and manage a domestic Delta flight.
To be fair, I'm not sure what percentage of Skyteam FFs would have status on one account and use another for a flight, but it's got to be extremely small. (I realize that a vast majority of that extremely small subset probably post here.)

With regards to your reasons why you chose to book this with DL...

1) This is double-dipping. It would be nice to use your existing status and also get credit with a different account, but you have to pick one or the other.
2) You can still use your AMEX Platinum, book a flight with Delta, and apply your Air France frequent flyer number. I'm not sure if flight purchases trigger the credit - you may want to check out the FT thread on this topic.
3) You can make a reservation while logged into your DL account and still apply your Air France frequent flyer number.
