Of course this happens in an instance where I wasn’t actually wanting to short-check because of some fare deal, I am actually going all the way to RDU!
What I don't know is whether UA has a full baggage check facility or just a bag drop at the main terminal FIS area. I know they have full checking capability at the C/midfield FIS area as I've used it. If they don't, you may need to go to the main check in area.
