Another update.

My Q hotel room offers the best views of any Shanghai Q hotels. Bar none, as an FTer living in China said after I shared the pictures in our WeChat group.

The views are spectacular. I see the empty streets, parked cars in the community, and seemingly non-flowing Huangpu River.

Shanghai, the most modern city in China with 26 million, simply freezes.

It is surreal.












I lived in Shanghai for many years and attended college there after Mao died.

I have never seen Shanghai like this.















My Q hotel is surrounded by locked down communities. It is literally sealed off from the rest of the world.

I can't order food or ask for delivery. Will update the meals during my stay before I am released.

But the location and views are excellent.





I will have a big decision to make after my 14 days of Q ends.
