UA could use any 787, 772ERs, 77W, 763, or 764 as they all have the range. UA was most likely expecting to use a PW 772 on this route starting May 6 and use the 764 for other routes. Network planning is quite complicated and has a lot of different factors (e.g. cargo demand between east coast and HNL may make a 772 the better option)
