Yes, I now remember sending the email-I do not remember if I did do or not do the facial verification first step = whereby I enter passport photo.
I entered the post in May 2020- two months after the start of the covid pandemic.

I did not travel at all outside of Canada in 2020 (from March 2020).

I have flown to Canada via USA twice via YYZ and once via YUL from Mexico last year.
The nexus machines were not installed in the transit (international/USA to domestic) CBSA area in Sept and Nov when I last came back from USA to Canada ; not operational at YUL last Dec. when arrived from Mexico.
