You don't mention which hotel (this thread is for all Hilton properties near LAX). I'm guessing the Hilton LAX? If so, it's terrific that you got a room with a walk-in shower. Every room I've had, including junior suites, have had tubs with curtains. My rooms have always had water next to the coffee maker, with more available at the front desk, but perhaps that's because I'm a Diamond. I've never been able to hear road or airport noise, even though I always have an airport view, but perhaps that's because I'm usually on a very high floor (I had assumed the windows were well-soundproofed). I've never heard of a security deposit, though. Did you guarantee the room with a credit card? Or were you o a pre-paid or voucher rate?
