Thanks for your thoughts. I'm with you about the service difference being somewhat negligible in practice because it's so rarely needed, and also that my last few Amex CS encounters were... lackluster.

As for points, I've got several hundred thousand MR/UR just hanging around. When I do use them, it tends to be via transfer partners, or perhaps via 1.5x Chase UR portal multiplier with the CSR.
