JAL normally just wants to confirm the ticket when transferring across separate tickets, if ANA wants to see the boarding pass that's an added complication. I never do online check in, so I don't know if JAL still issues online boarding passes. Lots of airlines suspended them due to document checks. But at least the functionality for OLCI is available on the website. The app just takes you to the website.
