I asked "Can I still use my card, even though I have an updated I-797 etc?" and they said "Yes, you can still use your card, but be sure to carry the updated documents with you."

I'm not sure I believe that. Hmm. Anybody happen to know if that's the case? Sure would be nice.

The agent was at first not sure how exactly to do it, and what info needs to go into the system, since there is only a TN-1 stamp but no "visa number". I called the YYZ NEXUS office and spoke to a CBP agent there, who informed me that they just need to put my most recent I-94 number into it. The DFW GE agent was happy to help and did this for me with no issues. I've already tested it on an arriving flight from Shanghai later this weekend and it works fine!

The answer is from 2016, but it may still be valid.
