Wouldn't the 777-300ER, 787-9, A350 have the legs to do the trans-polar over N.A. to Europe ?
Shortest route I see for NRT-LHR while avoiding Russia and giving Ukraine a wide berth would be flying over China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, down through the middle east and up through Turkey and Bulgaria. ~7500 miles. NRT-ANC-LHR is ~8000 mi.
Range of a
777 200ER is ~8500
777 300ER is ~8000

Not a lot of extra to spare there either way.
