I really hope they go back to fingerprints or scanning passport/greencard as those are much more reliable particularly with hair, sunglass and mask complications.
Be certain to remove any items blocking one's face completely prior to capturing the photo. If one is wearing sunglasses and/or a mask, the photo comparison won't work.
