They used to, but American Express did what it could to sever ties between Plaza Premium and Priority Pass.
Where Amex foots the bill, eventually Amex will come around to driving the lounge to ask for a boarding pass along with the applicable Amex when the lounge visitor is using the Amex card for "complimentary" access to a lounge.
