This happened to me last night, when the website was wonky and kept error out.
I got pissed off, and cancelled the un-ticketed itinerary, and booked elsewhere (with another airline).
It's unlikely to work itself out without human intervention, so you may need to go back into the reservation, and see if you can have the website ticket (currently the site thinks the reservation is on hold due to payment not yet processed from UA's end); otherwise, you would have to call and get it sorted out.

I was just on hold waiting for an agent when I got an email with the
eTicket Itinerary and Receipt for Confirmation, and it now shows that the ticket status is confirmed on the website. I guess I'll count myself as lucky in that case. It looks like it took the backend ~34 minutes to actually issue my ticket.
