There was an agent there. One for about 4 or 6 kiosks at the Priority line. When we asked him if he would check us in he told us to use the kiosks, when we asked for help he came out and helped us use the kiosks, he was not helping anobody else. Made us feel like having him do the check in for us was not an option.
I do agree they can be heavy handed with the use the kiosk approach (which also prints a boarding pass). I also prefer an agent but use a kiosk if a line is long - At HNL and LAS, if I use a kiosk and see my status they generally take care of taking care of the baggage tag and more or less take over the process but I still prefer an agent if a short line. You can always insist on an agent.
