as i suspected, the portions in transcon first were in fact reduced as is the standards on service.
two flights SFO-JFK on two different days. the salad has shrunk drastically and one way is plastic wrapped, one is not.
on the plastic wrapped flight i did not have a main as i was too tired. on the other i did have a main which was in fact delivered separately and normal/quite delicious frankly. but tsk tsk. neither fa were happy about the reduction to service on that particular flight.
