Feel free to disagree, but imagine it--they will not be happy. Asian carriers, especially, will not stand for it one bit. It is indeed a waste, IME.

For my family, we just got J seats for everyone; a bit of overkill for the kids, obviously, but was worth it for our sanity. YMMV.
