Simple answer: No.
Answer explained: Not sure if anyone here knows what’s up but I’m certain that no one at Amex knows. If AmEx doesn’t know, they can’t tell us, so we can never know. I’ve had similar experiences with changing AmEx billing dates several times and I recently started a
thread about the unpredictability of first statement dates (for several issuers). Other than certain statement dates and certain payment due dates being blacked out (not available), I think much of it is unknowable.
Recently I changed an AmEx Biz Gold statement date from the 23rd (of the month) to the 8th. Called shortly after Dec 23rd, was told I’ll get a statement on Jan 23 and then Feb 8. The website stated “Since Dec 23. Closing Jan 23” until Jan 21 or 22 when it miraculously changed to “Since Dec 25. Closing Feb 8”.
It’s difficult to manage charges and payments when AmEx is unable to provide correct information about statement dates. It’s very annoying when the first statement is 2 weeks after application date and it takes a week or 10 days to receive the card so the first statement ends up having one charge … the annual fee.
And of course after changing statements dates, AmEx in all their brilliance is completely unable to give the date that the next annual fee will post. Typical answer is “it might be on your May statement or it might be on your June statement”, not particularly helpful.
