“only to bring SAS into the fold akin to LOT” is not the same thing as “only to bring SAS into the fold akin to LX”. There are various ways for LH to bring a company into one of its folds.

Personally, I’m hoping that the airline giants are prevented from even further domination of the marketplace; and that means stopping major airlines investments in and/or acquisitions of other airlines or their parts. Unfortunately, Europe goes where Germany and France want it to when it comes to competition concerns in this sector; and so any sort of brining SAS into the LH fold would probably go ahead and leave consumers worse off for it.

As much as I am no great fan of SAS, I hope it is left to maintain its independence despite whatever even its shareholders may want or allow.
