The regulation is that passengers are not permitted to drink alcohol they bring on board. If they hand it over to crew to secure in the galley, and the crew then serve it to the passenger, it's fine. it happens from time to time on regular carriers when passengers take on board fine wines or drinks they are particularly fond of.
I expect you know that rules depend on who you are to some extent. Particularly in relation to Egypt.
