I am trying to create a trip on the MGM website, and it requires acceptance of the resort fees to book, even with status. I wouldn't put it past them to outright refuse to waive them at check-in. A lot of places will just "give you the pickle" marketing, but resort fees are Vegas' bread and butter. I don't think they're gonna willingly give you back 40%-120% of your room rate that you agreed to pay. In another sense, you're grandfathered into horrible terms.
technically you accept the resort fees at the time of booking for Hyatt as well and then it gets taken off at time of checkout.
if it’s like Caesar’s booking system when logged in as a diamond, resort fee will show waived but don’t expect it to happen until after the new program is in place.
As for earned or matched status, I’m expecting resort fee waivers for all and only the celebration dinners and cruises and such are only given for earned members. Just like parking, I would expect matched members to still get parking.
