Reminds me of an early January trip a few years ago for a 12 day cruise out of NYC. Flying to JFK, possibly from LAX. Flight got diverted to DC (IAD, I think)
3 hour wait for luggage, then 5 hour bus ride to JFK, then the longest taxi line I ever saw for us to go to our hotel in Manhattan
Almost as bad as a drive on I-95 thru Virginia
