Couldn't find anything, but figured since this is a brand new hotel. New high-rise Residence Inn just opened in Berkeley (Dec 2021). The location is great - 1 block away from campus, 1 block away from the subway station, and on one of downtown Berkeley's main dining/nightlife streets.

No stay because I'm local to the area, but I took a peek inside - looks like a pretty high standard new format Residence Inn. There's apparently going to be a rooftop bar opening in a month or two, still getting fitted out. Berkeley has been really short on hotel space compared to its neighbors, and given the proximity of the university, I imagine the hotel will be doing well during sporting events/conferences/alumni things and so on.
