Don't know if this would help you but I have gone through hours of time and effort and exasperation with Amex and Amazon. Someone fraudulently charged 13.77 and 2.11 on my discontinued Amex card, and the info said it was from Amazon prime Amazon.com. I finally got a hold of a competent Amazon agent that tracked the discontinued charge number and the amount of 13.77 - it was charged by a phone call from 9892042169 per the agent. This was clearly not my phone number. The fraudster accessed my name, old amazon account, email, discontinued Amex charge number, and address; however they called and ordered amazon video, and audible, and prime; so no package obviously would be traced to my address. I'm not sure how that is completed but they did it. I can tell you it appeared to be through a very old amazon account no longer used so I wouldn't see the transactions thru amazon. I called and made a report to my local police and provided the digital order number from amazon so amex could track it. Apparently amex does not destroy your discontinued accounts! Bottom line, always always look at your bank card statements each month and verify charges as these people are shrewd enough to access older and discontinued accounts and charge cards.
