I’m also looking at their room types and it looks like the “executive suite” is more of a larger normal room and the “junior suite” is a traditional suite. It’s similar at the JW in bogota. Their junior suites are definitely regular suites and even have a half bath. Very odd that they do this and I would be equally upset that they’re calling a slightly larger room a “suite”.
The standard hotel convention for naming room types would have an executive suite as a higher category than a junior suite. Junior suite usually means one room, sometimes L-shaped, or a very tiny one bedroom suite. Executive suite should be above categories like suite, superior suite, or deluxe suite. It could designate a suite that's suitable for small business meetings or one with a big desk in an alcove, etc.
