The key phrase to look for in the room description is "separate living room" or similar. If it doesn't say that, you should not expect a true suite.
Price is also a key indicator. On the nights I just checked, the "Executive Suite" is selling for only $10 more than a deluxe King Concierge Access. Whereas the Jr. Suite was $53 more than the "Executive Suite."
Not sure how appropriate it is to throw a hissy fit over a $10/night price differential.
Was around $20-40 more a night (thanks holiday pricing) when I was booking. I guess if you consider getting cheated a “hissy fit” then you are the best marrriott customer and really the reason why they can keep doing shady things and getting away with it.
