Skimming the
year end totals
thread for non-scientific anecdata does show a range of responses including probably a bunch of people who could be in a similar situation as you, but also people with 400k+ MQMs all of which are going to rollover, plus whatever they may earn organically next year, for whom the prospect of another 15k MQMs probably doesn't move the needle much. The former group still has incentive to put spend on an AMEX for MQM boosts, the latter not so much.
And granted, not everyone in the latter group is going to rush to cancel their cards -- there's still the tenuous Nth tie-breaker for upgrades for the Reserve, and more usefully SC access but you can get SC access with an AMEX Plat (which has its own non-overlapping set of benefits too).
So sure, we can speculate/argue about the proportions and numbers but maybe we can agree that at least in aggregate, overall demand for extra MQMs is going to be down, compared to MQDs, and compared to a normal year?
