Sitting here in the UK, if it does sweep through the country as predicted, I'm pretty sure, that even being reasonably careful, if there is no government intervention before Christmas, I and most other people here will have encountered this new variant by the middle to end of January. After that, in theory, the virus won't have many places to go, and should start to fizzle out. If the UK government acts early they might flatten the peak of infections, but at the moment they seem incapable of action and are now running a world-class vacillation campaign.
I'm not up for a 10 or 14 day hotel quarantine, so will probably have to cancel my trip in February (thankfully, booked with QR) but won't do that until much closer to the event. Who knows ...
I have planned my return to Thailand for early February...
7 day quarantine will be ok for me (I have spent already 2 times 14 days); if it's more I go for Sandbox (and have to book a new flight into Phuket)....we probably have to wait until 4. January until everything is more clear...
