If things stay bad for an extended period in 2022 travel-wise maybe combine it with a soft-landing (i.e., if you're Diamond you drop to Platinum, Platinum you drop to Gold, with the rules that soft-landing < earned status as they are doing for extended < earned in 2022). There are lots of people actually still flying, even though it is definitely less than before, much like the Fed, Delta needs to start tapering the largesse.
