With self-transit you won't go through the transfer desk. Instead, you will "leave" the airport and pick up your luggage. Then re-check your luggage into your next flight as if you're leaving from DXB. Think of it as flying to Dubai, leaving airport for 1 hour then remembering you left your oven on back home and you're flying right back out
