ALWAYS PACK (in your carry-on luggage):
- good book
- digital camera (you never know what you might see)
- backup razor
- change of clothes
- comfortable walking shoes
- refillable water bottle
- music player
- at least 2 forms of photo ID (passport, DL, non-driver ID, military ID, etc.)
- your elite and club cards!
- Buy cheap discount fares and upgrade with miles rather than using flight awards (except on short distance runs with very high fares, such as JFK-CLE)--that way, you will earn miles for the trip as well as using them!
- During the flight, stand up and walk around every 1-2 hours to keep blood circulating in your lower body
- Check your bag often for your most important documents, especially when traveling internationally
- Try to adjust as quickly as possible to time changes--get out in NATURAL light!
- Make an effort to appreciate and learn about the cities/countries that you visit (i.e. don't just eat at McDonald's when you go to Tokyo!)
