I haven't lived in Texas for ages either, for a variety of reasons, but we do still go visit there frequently. I hope that Texas does jump on the high speed rail idea - DAL-AUS-SAT, DAL-HOU, HOU-SAT would all be game changers, and would allow SWA to redeploy some assets to longer-haul more lucrative routes. However, I don't really want Amtrak running the railroad... couldn't SWA expand into multi-modal markets? They were the first with frequent air schedules intrastate in Texas, why not be on the cutting edge again? I think SWA colors would look just about right on Texas bullet trains.
