We are going to AMS for a week. - Is there any difference among the Marriotts there?
We don't want to stay near the airport or just next to the Harbor- I know they are cheaper on points, but not ideal for the city center
- That leaves the W, the Marriott and the Renaissance
Any idea which is better for simple tourism and attractions?

I've never stayed at any of these properties, as we prefer the Andaz. That said, the W is by far the best location IMO and the Marriott the most out-of-the-way of the three. Given that the W seems to cost twice the other two, however, I'd stay at the Renaissance for the best price/location combo if spending my own money/points. It's close to the Dam, Jordaan, and Nine Streets, plus convenient to tram lines.
If you're not planning to spend most of your time in the innermost core (Dam, Red Light District), then pick the Marriott. It's closer to the museum quarter and an easy tram ride to the core/Centraal.
