Chinese airport security sucks in general no matter what you look like. They set the metal detectors so everybody beeps. You get a full frisk after that and you basically need to take all electronics, cords, and coins out of your bag in order to get through the luggage scan. This is the same regardless of airport. There was a time maybe 5 years ago when it seemed Pudong had it a bit more civilized but that quickly went away. Beijing is the absolute worst though.
