One family tradition we had... we'd buy a whole chinese roast duck, some cucumbers, green onions, carrots and beansprouts... and a few bags of pita bread (the pocket kind). We'd shred the duck (the remains would go into a soup pot or left to cook with congee), julienne the cucumbers/green onions/carrots (at least we'd tried to) and just blanch the beansprouts... cut the pitas in half... little bit of hoisin, some veggies and duck and boom, you're done. Over time the veggies might change (or the duck/goose/chicken might) but a not to unhealthy meal that would cover a lot of people... and lots of bonding while assembling everything.
