I need to have the (physical) credit card used to buy the ticket to board?

asked to show original credit card, but ticket was purchased using virtual CC number?
Each one of those posts seem to refer to producing the relevant credit card at check-in, where a parent may still be present when dropping off a minor.

I'm not familiar with gate agents (as in the original post) demanding proof of a credit card and I haven't seen evidence that producing a credit card at the gate is a common practice. Do you have examples of that?
