I took advantage of the paid upgrade from Y to Y+ at EWR in September. When these are being offered, does anyone know how difficult it might be to get a point upgrade (10,000 points) from Y to Y+? The flight I was on was full in Y+ so I assumed a lot of people did the paid upgrade.

My husband and I will be flying EWR/CPH on Dec. 16 (connecting from MCO) and I'm hoping to upgrade us to Y+ with points. But do the paid upgrades usually exhaust the available Y+ seats?

Since we are connecting and will not be checking in at EWR where you normally request and pay for these upgrades, will it be possible to pay for one at the gate?
