It was odd that when DFW-KOA dropped out AA's system automatically changed us to regular economy on narrow body AA metal connecting flights. The system did not consider that we had paid for PE. It seems their system is programed/biased to avoid inter-island connections on HA. When I called AA, the agent at first only offered AA metal narrow-body flights as alternatives. I had to feed the agent the AA codeshare flight numbers for the HA flights to/from HNL.
Not thrilled with the extra time and inter-island flight, but we did keep PE on the long legs.
Glad to hear it worked out. The HA interisland flights are relatively painless. Backtracking the 150mi to HNL will be more than compensated by the added comfort of PE HNL-DFW.
