You don't need to show your physical AGR card to get into the Metropolitan Lounge. Just show them your ticket & they can see your status. And if you are entering without an Amtrak ticket, they can look you up by name & see your status.
How do you enter without an Amtrak ticket? It's now (sadly) required you have a same-day ticket. No more waiting for the commuter train in the lounge.
FWIW, when I was upgraded from S+ to SE a few months ago, the SE card arrived within two weeks of making the status.
