To me the ideal JFK trip is departing from Terminal 4 and arriving back at Terminal 2.
The Centurion Lounge at Terminal 4 is very nice and comfortable. I always leave enough time to do a more leisurely walk to the gate after leaving the lounge. So it is long but not stressful.
On return getting out of Terminal 2 is fast and easy and I don't care about any of the amenities.
If you DRIVE to JFK and park in the garage for a T4 departiure while arriving at T2 would require using either the AirTrain* or the shuttle between T2 and T4. Otherwise going
down a 3 level helix and avoiding going
UP a 3 level helix is a big plus.
*The AirTrain particularly at late hours has reduced service and the inner loop (which goes reverse to the outer loop) would require circling the entire AT route to get to T4.
