people need to realize that a good amount of people DO pay attention where they want to sit. Not being able to sit next to your companion is not their problem, so don't go to them to fix it.
So...people should know not to ask you perfectly reasonable questions due to your inability to answer politely and assertively without feeling awkward, and your reasoning is that they shouldn't expect you to fix their problems?
