The last time I ate there was maybe six years ago, but it was very hard back then to get a reservation. I went through Amex Plat Concierge -- letting them know about my request before the reservation window was open -- and they made it happen on the day I wanted. I vaguely recall later hearing that they had (or maybe still have?) a team of people who work to get those types of reservations, but I don't know how true that is.
There was a sour note in that we showed up to the restaurant only to find that they had no reservation for us in their system. The front desk lady more or less told us to buzz off, probably assuming we were lying about having a reservation. But after I showed the emails from Amex, they did more digging and found that our reservation had been cancelled in their OpenTable system at some point in the past. They claimed to have no clue why that happened, but in any event they found us a table.
I also told Amex about it after the fact and they threw me an apology credit, maybe $250 or so.
