I was planning my own Sep trip to Alaska so I ran a query. Guess you must be on your trip right now. Hope you booked the Coastal classic to Seward. For us, Gold Star was all booked up, but I know it is worth because of access to open air viewing platform. (not sure if that level is fully accessible or not - this is a general note for others). Also open air is best for photography enthusiasts, if you are just viewing I think the fresh air feel is nice, but otherwise no major advantages.
