Just flew couple of weeks ago DEL-FRA (LH) FRA-DEN (UA) on an United ticket. It is working without issues.
Isn't Lufthansa to the USA on a United ticket a very specific exception to the bubble rules made to provide parity with the Air France/Delta bubble exception? I don't think this would apply to Canada.
