For an award, if the class you're looking for isn't available, you can waitlist for it.

As an Elite, you will beat out a general member for positioning.

This is quite handly if trying to book say a BF itin, and maybe one domestic segment isn't available in F, but is available in Y. Simply confirm the Y, and ask to get waitlisted for F.

Note: This only works for CO-operated flights.
