I think the bigger issue is that the program isn't really delivering on promised benefits. For example, I am regularly denied a 4PM check-out unless I go through the whole "I'm guaranteed this benefit" song and dance. To me, "over entitled" mean asking for more than you're supposed to get, i.e. free breakfast for Golds or RC suite upgrades for Plats. If Marriott thinks its footprint is all people care about, why bother guaranteeing benefits they aren't going to deliver?
