Apple does have a history of marketing features like they are the newest/hottest thing out there while Android has had them for a while (and likely at a lower price). Never underestimate the combined power of a good marketing team and general human stupidity.
Even though I'm a Windows and Android person, I have to admire the marketing of Apple products and the loyalty of their followers. They do have the advantage of being the only manufacturer of devices that run their operating systems though, which might make the loyalty stronger. Apple have almost made the word 'iPad' synonymous with 'tablet' - like 'Hoover' and 'vacuum cleaner'
Back on topic though, I remember a joke that was going round when iPhones started gaining in popularity:
Q: How can you tell if someone in the room has an iPhone?
A: They'll tell you!
