I have flown domestic most weeks. United’s computers have gotten so good at selling seats in first, I am almost always inclined to pay for the upgrade. On almost all the flights I have taken they set the cost to the upgrade just exactly right to ensure every seat gets purchased. So as a 1K I almost never see either a PP upgrade or a courtesy upgrade. This would be EWR to West Coast, ORD, IAD, BOS. Sitting on 720 PP but paying for all my flights to get upgraded. Sees to devalue the 1K status significantly.
