See bottom of page of turkish airlines "flexible change" webpage (sorry it wont let me post link cause i too new here)

The exchange rate between now and Nov is virtually the same. I am flying same class. Are they saying taxes went up $806? I don't think so.

What's driving me crazy is not the fact i might have to pay extra, it is that the way I see it, they are not abiding by the terms and conditions that they have set for Flexible changing right.

Any input is appreciated.
So, as you might not be familiar with this issues, I would explain this a bit in detail.

As you mentioned, the post in the TK website
Fare differences incurred by taxes, exchange rates or fare class differences will be applied.
A fare difference not always rely on taxes but could also rely on demand, seasonality, etc... Airlines do use dynamic pricing to set up their tickets and not all seats in Economy Class are sold for a fixed price.

There are various fare buckets in each cabin and they are classified by price and availability differs on various things like demand, seat availability, season, how many dates in advance you purchase the ticket, etc...

To find your fare bucket, check your confirmation e-mail from TK;
In the example below, the fare bucket is L

Also a reminder that the fare bucket for the inbound and outbound legs might be different.

You have mentioned that you were originally planned to travel in November, however, then you would like to travel in August 2021. It makes perfect sense for a ticket in August 2021 which is summer peak season, is during school holidays in most countries, would have less COVID restrictions, etc... compared to an off-season November 2020 date where border restrictions were all around the world, most places were closed to COVID, etc...

If you provide the date that you booked your original ticket, the flights and the fare buckets that you have originally booked; and the date and the flights you are trying to book; I could recheck if TK was right asking you that amount of money.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. We're happy to help
