In luxury properties where I'm a repeat guest, I've had some luck in having my WOH Concierge contact the hotel directly, including asking to be confirmed in specific suites within a premium suite category. Note that in general at properties with many suite categories, the group of premium suites that are potentially available as (confirmed, using points or cash) upgrades might not include the property's very best suites.
